Maytag LAT9606 commercial washed burned up a drive belt.
I replaced it and the machine motor spins but the belt doesn''t. It statrs to smoke so I shutt it off right away. I was advised by an appliance parts store to replace the brake. I did but the tub won''t spin or agitate.
The break/stop may be out of adjustment. I spun the pulley all the way up the spiraled shaft and then put the stop on.
The pulley turns about 5/8 to 3/4 of an inch in a direction opposite of the stop. How should this be adjusted and will adjustment solve the problem allowing the machine to operate properly

The first thing i need to know did the washer burn the trans belt or the pump belt?
You may have a clothing garment between the inner and outer tubs. This needs to be checked before you start tearing into the washer.
