by: Paul   on: Thursday, April 8 2010 at 17:44:05 EDT

I have a Whirlpool 24" quiet partner III model # GU2548XTPS that the clean light just flashes.
I can't get it out of this mode so the dishwasher is rendered not functioning.

Is the logic board defective, is there a reset protocol that i can try?

this is it:
A clean indicator that flashes/blinks 7 times and then repeats, indicates a problem in the dishwasher which should be investigated and not just the control 'reset'!
That is why the control will not let the dishwasher start once such a condition is detected.
If the dishwasher's electronic control doesn't detect a water temperature increase during the main wash cycle, that symptom can occur. No water temperature increase could be caused by a problem in the heater element, its in-line thermostat, the related wiring or a problem in the electronic control.
It is also possible just the washer not spraying properly (possibly from blockage in the filter or problem in the pump), the dishwasher not filling sufficiently or draining prematurely or even a problem in the door latching mechanism's switch(es) could cause it.
Once corrected, the error display may have to be cleared from the control manually. That can usually be done by putting the unit into diagnostic mode by pressing the key sequence 'Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal' and then pressing cancel.

Once i cleared the codes i put the dishwasher in a "quick wash" cycle.
I can initailly hear water go into the wachine, but as the timer counts doen in the cycle I hear no washing going on, and little water in the bottom of the machine when i opened the door.
I have heat, and the soap dispensor opened, but no agitation sound and it's not that quiet.
It is appeareing more of a water delivery problem or a pump problem.

Then you have a fill valve problem because of lack of water the unit shut down, you will need to replace the fill valve to allow eneough water to enter the machine for the unit to work properly.

After further review, I removed the pump housing, removed the masserator assembly and removed the motor. Inside the housing was a fake finger nail (wifes), and broken swizel stick and (2) pieces of broken glass from a recent wash that broke a glass. With all that in there the motor was unable to spin which is why i wasn't getting watert o flow.
The part that bothered me was that it never tripped the breaker, boy that motor was hot! Once I removed the foreign matter listed above the dishwasher works properly, no other parts needed.

you may still not have eneough water in the unit, the blinking clean light is a sign that the water level is not getting high eneough inside the tub and it is overheating the thermister the water needs to fill to the bottom of the heating element for it to work correctly.
